Sanur, one of Bali’s popular tourist destinations, is known for being a perfect spot for families with children and everyone who is looking for a more calm and serene holiday experience. Important for Sanur and the 3 Islands nearby
Inline with other infrastructural improvements, that are planned to be developed in Bali, the local authorities have now approved a roadway project to Sanur. This 6km road is aiming to address the traffic issues,Bali’s Interim Governor, Sang Made Mahendra Jaya, spoke about the potential of this development to facilitate better access to the harbour and Nusa Penida.
This is an important development, especially considering the number of travelers Sanur sees, many of whom are heading to Sanur’s Maritime Terminal for ferry services to the nearby islands of Nusa Penida, Nusa Ceningan, and Nusa Lembongan.
Because these islands have gained drastically in popularity over the last 12 months, a part of Sanur is suffering from massive traffic jams.
With a number of over 15,000 people arriving at Bali’s International Airport and Sanur’s Maritime Terminal handling up to several thousand passengers a day at its peak, this roadway is seen as a necessary infrastructural addition to Bali.

The project’s assessment is expected to conclude by the end of the year, with the groundwork likely starting in early 2024.
The new 6km roadway is anticipated to change the transportation dynamics in Sanur and the surrounding areas. It aims to provide better access to the islands of Nusa Penida, Nusa Ceningan, and Nusa Lembongan, and improve the overall situation in Sanur.
