A new farm-to-table concept debuts at the luxe Jumeirah Bali’s Segaran Dining Terrace, welcoming guests to gather over a Megibung menu. Featuring authentic flavours, this new experience reflects Jumeirah Bali’s dedication to preserving Balinese culture.

“Megibung” is a traditional Balinese way of dining. The word comes from “gibung” in Balinese word, which means “share with each other.” This tradition symbolises solidarity by bringing people together to share food from one big plate – or, more traditionally, off of a big piece of banana leaf.

Executive Chef Vincent Leroux of Segaran Dining Terrace expressed the restaurant’s desire to celebrate the spirit of togetherness through a complimentary set menu designed for two. Segaran’s Megibung menu brings back the delicious flavours of locally sourced ingredients, just like in the old days when seasons shaped our daily meals.

Guests can choose from protein-based dishes for sharing, such as Samsam Kriuk, crispy pork belly cooked in cassava leaf and coated in rich basa genep sauce.

Also, you will find an array of seafood and fish dishes, enhanced by homemade sambals made with ingredients like chili, kaffir lime leaf, ginger, and shrimp paste, which add complexity to dishes like Sate Languan, fish kebab on lemongrass skewers; fish ball Soup Ikan made from local marlin simmered in Balinese spices and coconut broth; and Tum Ikan – steamed marinated coral fish in banana leaf.

The island’s seasonal produce also takes the spotlight, featuring delightful vegetarian dishes like yellow festival rice and Nasi Sela – aromatic steamed Jatiluwih rice with sweet potato.

Don’t miss out on ending this experience on a sweet note!

Savour coconut’s versatility in many dessert forms, including Sumping Waluh cake made of steamed butternut pumpkin and grated coconut wrapped in banana leaf; Klepon – pandan rice flour ball with jaggery and steamed desiccated coconut; and rice flour Laklak pancakes served with grated coconut and dusted with palm sugar.

The Megibung set menu at Segaran Dining Terrace is priced at IDR 800.000++ for two people and is available daily from 4 pm to 10 pm.
