Introducing the Zero Waste Menu
From measuring food waste to launching a zero-waste selection, Grand Hyatt resort in Nusa Dua is committed to creating a positive impact on the environment through various approaches. This time, they are introducing their latest sustainable culinary offerings.
Grand Hyatt Bali is dedicated to reducing food waste’s environmental impact through careful measurement, smaller portions, buffet refills, and smaller plates. These efforts are now in full swing at Garden Cafe to cut landfill-bound food waste. Since May 2023, Grand Hyatt Bali has earned The PLEDGE on Food Waste certification from Lightblue Consulting, enhancing the resort’s commitment to sustainability.
The resort has also undertaken various sustainable initiatives to divert food waste from landfills. These actions include creating eco-enzymes from fresh organic waste, converting cooked food waste into valuable fertilizer using Black Soldier Fly Maggots, and partnering with Scholars of Sustenance to donate surplus food to those in need in Bali.
Grand Hyatt Bali monitors their ongoing programs with the Food Intel Tech app. By openly sharing their progress and insights, the resort aims to inspire others to create a more sustainable and waste-conscious environment.
The resort’s remarkable achievements include donating an average of 200kg of excess food per month, converting at least 576kg of food waste into maggot feed weekly, and transforming approximately 101kg of weekly food waste into eco-enzyme. The efforts have saved approximately 1 gram of food per portion, amounting to about 500 grams of food donations daily.
Beyond their efforts to reduce food waste, Grand Hyatt Bali takes it a step further by launching their latest culinary offerings, the ‘Zero Waste Menu,’ in line with their mission to promote environmentally-conscious practices.
An exquisite, eco-friendly lineup, including Aloo Gobi, Vegetable Panini, Crispy Baby Potatoes, and Strawberry Tart, is ready to delight guests at the Garden Cafe. These dishes are all prepared to meet the highest standards of health and food safety in accordance with ISO 22000 guidelines.
Garden Café, nestled within Grand Hyatt Bali, serves a wide range of Asian and international dishes. Guests can enjoy their meal in a beautiful setting with waterfalls and lagoons, making it a memorable dining experience.
