Where do we go from here?
On Bali Island School Career Day, the event addresses students’ most fundamental question: “where do we go from here?” BIS hosted career panels with question and answer sessions for high school students on their own Career Day. The Sanur-based international school helped its students from grades 6 to 12 discover potential career options by inviting speakers from various industries including hospitality, medicine, engineering, finance, law, and IT.
“Today, career changes happen frequently. BIS is aware of this and must emphasize the importance of skill acquisition alongside content knowledge, which aligns perfectly with the IB philosophy,” says Mike Miller, school principal.
The event featured enthusiastic panels with high caliber speakers including Tantowi Yahya (Former Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand), Dominic Bryant (Conservation Scientist) and DR. Ida Ayu Oka Purnamawati (Founder and Director General of Bali Royal Hospital).
Two consistent messages were delivered throughout the panel sessions: leaving a legacy by developing people, as it is the key to a sustainable business in an ever-changing world, and being open-minded to learning new skills, not to fit in, but to adapt to future changes.
